Baptist Elect

Baptist Press reports on the rising trend of Calvinism within the SBC, finding that recent graduates of SBC seminaries are three times more likely to be Calvinists.  The report does a good job of considering how this will affect the SBC and, more importantly, the local churches where these pastors serve.  It doesn’t, though, consider from where the influence is coming.  Off the top of my head, I’m thinking folks like Al Mohler, John Piper have made the largest contribution to this trend.

As a reminder, here are basics of Calvinism, remembered best by the acronym TULIP

Total Depravity (also known as Total Inability and
      Original Sin)
      Unconditional Election
Limited Atonement (also known as Particular Atonement)
      Irresistible Grace
Perseverance of the Saints (also known as Once Saved Always
      Saved)
